Compound Slab Edit Handle Modifiers

There are 4 key modifiers that influence the behavior of the edit handles on a compound slab leaf.

  • Ctrl key - When <Ctrl> key is pressed and held down, multiple edit handles can be selected by left-clicking on them or by drag-selecting from left-to-right. Only compatible edit handles will stay selected. The Message Center notifies when the last selection was disallowed. Compatible edit handles can be used to edit the compound slab leaves simultaneously. While operating the selected edit handles, release the <Ctrl> key and left-click drag one of the selected handles to drag all selected handles at once.
  • Alt key - When the <Alt> key is tapped, this toggles the angle preservation mode in the base region and Hole Profile drag dynamics. Tap once to drag with unconstrained angles; tap again to preserve them (the default).
  • Shift key - When the <Shift> key is tapped, this toggles the "Punched leaves mode" used when the edited hole feature is applied to the compound slab. By default, when a hole feature is modified, the set of punched leaves is recomputed "Punched leaves mode: recompute". By tapping the <Shift> key, the modified feature is applied to the original set of punched leaves "Punched leaves mode: preserve". Tap again to revert to the default mode. The new mode state is indicated in Message Center, with a detailed explanation in the Message Center dialog. For example, a user might want to tap <Shift> to preserve punched leaves when a multi-leaf compound slab has only one leaf with a "Punch Through" hole feature, and they want to change that hole's size not punch through the other leaves.
  • Ctrl key during drag dynamics - When <Ctrl> key is tapped while dragging a hole with the central "Move Hole" edit handle, the behavior changes to Copy Hole. The hole profile being dragged turns from green to orange, and the data point will copy the hole (create a new one) in the compounds slab. The tooltip for the Move Hole control will note this behavior similar to how platform edit handles reveal Alt behavior to preserve angles: "Move Hole (tap Ctrl key for copy"). Note that <Shift> key can still be tapped for Copy Hole, just like Move Hole, to toggle between preserving/recomputing the leaves punched by the new hole.
